Leading flat knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki is highlighting short-sleeve pullovers or t-shirts for the warmer seasons from its WHOLEGARMENT sample line-up this month.
“It is finally feeling warmer here in the Northeast, and so we wanted to take this time to highlight some short-sleeve pullovers or t-shirts from our WHOLEGARMENT sample line-up for you to consider for the warmer seasons,” commented Shima Seiki USA’s Hayato Nishi.
“These t-shirts utilize Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT 3D Knitting technologies, which drastically reduces wastage and achieves savings by producing garments in the most sustainable form of knitting today. The machines knit garments all in one piece from yarn to garment with no need for cut & sew or linking and offers a new and truly sustainable knit offering to the fashion industry.”
Sample #Y5429W00M
This first t-shirt sample is knitted knit on a MACH2X123XS15L machine in a 12-gauge texture, weighing in at 284 grams, and taking 54 minutes and 48 seconds to knit. The garment uses a combination of blended functional yarns to elevate the performance of the product.
The yarns used in the sample are SEL BREEZE from Hotta Textile Industry Co. Ltd. which is 100% polyester and has pill-resistant, UV-resistant, and quick dry properties, along with a yarn called DR COMPACT from Miyama Co. Ltd., which is a cotton acrylic blend with quick-dry properties.
This WHOLEGARMENT t-shirt has a 3×1 links x links-based structure on the main body creating a unique texture. The style also features an epaulet shoulder detail, while using pointelles on the back body and underarm for increased breathability and added design.
Sample #Y5743W00L
The second t-shirt sample Y5743W00L, is knitted on Shima’s MACH2X153XS18L machine in an 18-gauge texture, weighing in at 228 grams, and taking an hour and 51 minutes and 48 seconds to knit. This garment uses a combination of blended functional yarns to elevate the performance of the product.
The first yarn used in the sample is TAKUMI from SAWADA CO. Ltd., a Paper yarn and polyester blend, featuring lightweight, and quick-dry properties. This is combined with an extra-long staple cotton yarn called SUVIN GOLD from Towa Keori Co. Ltd. for a more comfortable hand.
The ultra-fine gauge WHOLEGARMENT t-shirt uses Shima’s new Airy Pique structure that combines two different yarns between outside and inside, to achieve multi-functional garments depending on the yarns used. The Japanese paper blended yarn is used on the outside for a crisp, dry, and lightweight feel while using extra-long staple cotton on the inside touching the wearer’s skin.
Sample #Z2852W00M
The final t-shirt sample highlighted is Z2852W00M, knitted on the Japanese company’s MACH2S183S16 machine, weighing in at 243 grams, taking an hour and 7 minutes and 47 seconds to knit. This garment uses a textured structure to create highs and lows for elevated comfort.
One of the yarns used in the sample is B-52 from RECOVER (HILATURAS FERRE S.A.) which is a Cotton Polyester blend and is used in combination with a POLYESTER WOOLY and GUNZE Span Sewing thread both from Chuo Seni Shizai Co. Ltd., which are both polyester yarns. By using recycled cotton yarn from RECOVER, the product minimizes the impact on the environment as they use less water in the dyeing process by pre-sorting recycled garments by colours.
This WHOLEGARMENT t-shirt features a waffle-like structure on the main body for extreme comfort and uses a newly patented knitting structure in the collar called SP neck. The neck trim detail features a 1×1 links x links structure that is attached to the neckline directly on the machine. This allows for a cleaner, multi-layered collar detail, closer to the look of a linked collar.
