The 5th session of SPINEXPO, a trade fair dedicated to promoting innovation in the yarn, fibre and knitwear industry, will present a preview of its collections and colour ranges for the Spring/Summer 2020 season from 16-17 January.
IN BETWEEN being the key theme of the trends presented by SPINEXPO, the trade fair also explores the section entitled Human Centric. “The human body is likened to a shrine where shapes cleverly embrace the morphology of the body. The yarns used are guards and have an important role in the comfort of the garment produced. They can have specific properties, such as the control of UV rays, temperature or sleep patterns,” the organisers report.
“This is also the section where we find all the initiatives associated with true sustainable development and with the initiatives in this field. To illustrate these trends, we present Toyoshima, a Japanese textiles company founded in 1841 in Ichinomiya.”
With multiple goals in the field of sustainable development, which include 17 key concepts – no poverty, zero hunger, wellbeing, education, gender equality, clean water and solar energy, decent work, industrial innovation, reduced inequalities, sustainability of cities and businesses, sustainable production cycles, climate action, respect for life below water and life on land, peace and justice, and partnerships as ultimate goals – Toyoshima has integrated multiple innovative trends in the recycling of a variety of materials.
Toyoshima recycles food waste and uses dyes from green or red cabbage, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, tea and coffee. In conjunction with food businesses, from which the food waste is collected, vegetable dyes are extracted and used to dye clothing and accessories that are resold to fashion boutiques.
Another highlight at the show is the organic cotton project called Orgabits, which in conjunction with BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) integrates 10% of organic cotton into products that are affordable to all and for which 10 yen is allocated to be spent on philanthropic projects in various countries.
The yarns presented at SPINEXPO include CHAINLON, a recycled Greenlon nylon yarn made from fishing nets rejected by the sea and produced using a system with low carbon dioxide emissions and a controlled electricity consumption that reduces the normal process by 76.2%.
Also presented at SPINEXPO is JETPLAN, a circular economic concept, where the fabrics manufactured are sold in boutiques, and where the boutiques’ customers buy recycled products again for new collections, enabling the economic environment to regenerate itself. An intelligent way of recycling its stock for a new creativity.
These and other innovative sustainable developments will be highlighted at the next month’s SPINEXPO trade fair in Paris, France.
