The 63rd edition of Filo saw strong attendance despite economic challenges.
The 63rd edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres Exhibition, concluded in Milan with highly positive results. Despite the global economic downturn, buyers showed strong interest in the high-value collections presented by exhibitors, who demonstrated innovation and sustainability in textile production.
Visitors particularly appreciated the Filo Capsule Collection, a curated selection of fabric samples produced using exhibitor materials. This collection, created with the support of ITA-Agency and in collaboration with Tessitura Zanello and Ricamificio Vittorio Vanoni, showcased the finest manufacturing techniques.
The two-day event saw a steady flow of visitors, including a high number of international buyers. Thanks to its partnership with ITA-Agency, Filo welcomed a delegation of 35 professionals and journalists from France, the UK, the USA, India, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, South Korea, and Belgium. Additionally, the Integrated Textile Supply Chain Project (PIF) of the Piedmont Region, funded through the ERDF 2021-2027 Regional Operational Programme, enabled buyers from Denmark, Finland, Ireland, and the UK to attend. A distinguished delegation from Tunisia, led by the Tunisian Ambassador to Italy, explored potential collaborations between Tunisian and Italian textile companies.
Paolo Monfermoso, Filo’s General Manager, commented: “The 63rd edition of Filo has concluded with positive results. Despite the global economic and geopolitical challenges, Filo has once again confirmed its role as a key industry reference point. Our approach remains focused on quality, sustainability, and innovation, which are essential to overcoming market challenges. Many exhibitors have reported positive business developments during the event, as buyers recognise Filo as a hub for top-tier collections and services.”

The central theme of this edition was manufacturing excellence, as discussed in the Opening Ceremony titled ‘The Art of Manufacturing from Yarn to Fabric, from Ideas to Production: How to Turn Creativity into Products.’ In a video message, Italy’s Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, emphasised the importance of an integrated and high-quality supply chain. Matteo Zoppas, President of ITA-Agency, highlighted the significance of supporting companies and trade fairs to promote Italian textiles internationally. He noted that while overall textile exports remain stable, sector-by-sector analysis is essential.
Raffaello Napoleone, President of IT-EX, underscored the importance of trade fairs for the manufacturing industry. Pier Francesco Corcione, General Director of Unione Industriale Biellese, stressed that combining innovation with skills development is crucial for the industry’s growth. Piedmont Region’s Vice-President, Elena Chiorino, reaffirmed the region’s commitment to investing in training and internationalisation, as competitiveness relies on quality, innovation, and expertise.
Monfermoso further said: “Manufacturing has always been at the heart of Filo, as it is for the companies that participate. This edition placed special emphasis on technical aspects and process innovation, leading to the creation of the Filo Capsule Collection, an industry-first within international exhibitions. Filo continues to serve as both a marketplace for supply and demand and a platform for discussions on the future of the textile industry.”
The 64th edition of Filo is scheduled for 10-11 September 2025 at Allianz MiCo, Milan.
