MY Knitever pioneers custom-fit seam-free dresses with sustainability and self-expression at its core.
Founded in 2022 by physicist and model Ying Yi, MY Knitever is said to be revolutionising fashion through an innovative e-commerce platform offering custom-made WHOLEGARMENT dresses. The company enables customers to perform body scans via smartphones, ensuring a seamless, perfectly fitting garment without the need for traditional sizing.
Driven by a commitment to sustainability, Ms. Yi turned to Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT knitting machines to address industry challenges such as overproduction and textile waste. These advanced machines create garments three-dimensionally in a single piece, eliminating excess fabric waste while providing high-quality, seam-free knitwear. Ms. Yi describes her vision as “eco-friendly, high-quality fashion that prioritises individuality.”
Combining scientific expertise with fashion innovation, Ms. Yi developed a unique process that merges smartphone body scanning with 3D WHOLEGARMENT knitting technology. The company utilises Shima’s KnitPaint programming software to efficiently produce WHOLEGARMENT knitting data, ensuring each dress is tailored precisely to the customer’s measurements.
WHOLEGARMENT knitting also allows MY Knitever to address the limitations of standard-sized clothing, promoting inclusivity and body positivity. The brand empowers women by offering fashion that embraces diverse body shapes and encourages confidence and self-expression.
Beyond customisation, WHOLEGARMENT technology supports ethical production by reducing labour requirements, making domestic manufacturing in the US more viable. Looking to the future, Ms. Yi is exploring sustainable initiatives such as reusing yarn from WHOLEGARMENT products and expanding the range of dress designs. She also plans to invest in additional WHOLEGARMENT flat knitting machines to further enhance the company’s offerings.
